Recent adventures, in brief
One Night In Vegas Our very good friends were going to be in Vegas for a week, and we found a killer deal ($120 per person for flight, hotel, and transportation to & from the airport), so off we went to hang out with them for just one night! We arrived in time for a late dinner at the Wicked Spoon buffet in the Cosmopolitan, closed down the strip, and spent the entire next day lounging by the pool before heading back home around 10pm. It was an amazing trip, spontaneous and fun, and so good to see our friends. Laguna Seca Racetrack during Monterey Car Week For Nick’s birthday,…

30 Before 30 – What I’ve Done
If you’ve never heard of a 30 before 30 list (or 40 before 40, or bucket list, etc), it’s a list of things that you’d like to try before you turn a certain age. I’ve been working on a 30 before 30 list for the last 5 years or so, and since my 29th birthday is rapidly approaching, I thought I’d do a status update/reality check on what I’ve been able to accomplish! Visit New Zealand with…

And now I’ve only got 3 & 1/2 years til my next one! Most people seem to use their sabbatical to travel, and I was no exception. I opted to spent three weeks in New Zealand with my grandmother (my dad’s mom). She’s very special to…

March Updates
I’m cooking some collard greens right now!! Using this recipe. It smells absolutely DIVINE. I’ve never had collard greens before – I guess they’re a southern American thing – but the way that these smell, I think I could love them!! Another thing that we really love here are food trucks and Mexican Coke, which is made with sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup. I guess this shouldn’t make any difference, but there definitely is some kind of different flavour about it! I don’t know if I would say it tastes more “natural”, but it’s a different taste from regular Coke- I would say less sweet, and with more “spiciness”,…
